Four Year Old Program
LilyPad’s four year olds are called the Dragonflies. Children who participate in this program are also enrolled in LilyPad’s four year old preschool program.
A preschooler's world opens up in new ways as children improve coordination, learn complex games, and begin to interact more with others. Children learn by doing, and at LilyPad, your preschooler will strengthen his or her cognitive skills with plenty of hands-on activities.
The goals of our four year old program come from the Creative Curriculum for Preschool© and focus upon four main areas of child development, including:
- Social/Emotional Development: This area includes objectives for recognizing feelings and managing them appropriately, respecting the rights of others, and using thinking skills to solve conflicts.
- Physical Development: The objectives for this area of development consist of balancing while moving, coordinating eye-hand movement, and using tools for writing and drawing.
- Cognitive Development: Exploring cause and effect, applying knowledge to a variety of experiences, and using numbers and counting are some objectives from the cognitive area of development.
- Language Development: This area includes objectives for understanding and following oral directions, expression of wants and needs using words, participating in back and forth conversations, and demonstrating knowledge of the alphabet.
